I have worked with Beth for several years on both a 1-2-1 and group training level. During that time I have had the pleasure of watching her achieve her goals, develop and grow into the strong woman that she is today.
Last year she competed in her first Strong Women competition and loved every second. Beth’s other strength achievements include Goblet Squatting a 48kg kettlebell for 5 reps, Jerking a 32kg kettlebell over head and deadlifting 110kg. It’s been an incredibly rewarding journey. “Working with Train Strong Personal Training for the last three and half years has truly opened my eyes to what I am capable of, both physically and mentally. For someone who did anything to avoid sport in school I have come a very long way!
I initially contacted Matt because I wanted help losing weight. I had tried and failed several times and I was fed up of constantly being on a diet and working hard in the gym to stay the same shape, size and weight.
To say he helped in my weight loss journey would be a bit of an understatement. With his knowledge and support the weight actually came off quite easily. Three stone lighter and four dress sizes smaller, I finally have the figure I dreamt about for many years.
With Matt’s help I have become fitter and stronger than I have ever been. His sessions are fun and exciting, but always tough. I remember saying to myself, in our first session together “this is the last time you’re ever going to be fat, because I can’t go through this again”. But Matt always pushes me to do my best and it wasn’t long before I realised I was enjoying myself. Not just the sessions themselves, but how they made me feel afterwards.
He has stretched, torn apart, and completely re-shaped my comfort zone and in doing so he has taught me to have confidence in myself and to trust in my capabilities. He has helped me realise that true strength comes not just from what you can lift, but how you rise to master the challenge facing you.
That is what I’ve really taken from working with Matt; a sense that I can face whatever is in front me head on, be it a heavy kettlebell I have to press over my head; a health issue or even a redundancy. I can find the strength to fight.
He has really helped me to appreciate my body and what it is capable of, no matter how it looks; and that I can do whatever I set my mind to. Something I have always known, just never truly believed.”
